Nan + Jamie | Engaged

I am so excited to post about these two! Nan and Jamie are precious together and I had such a blast photographing them! They brought along their two adorable beagles and we managed to get a few shots with them. I was a bit nervous as it was my first e-session but after the first couple of shots, I realized I had nothing to be nervous about.

Nan had a fabulous idea for us to go take pictures of the two of them on hay bales on her stepfather's farm. However, the bales were gone when we got there! Luckily, there were some hay bales sitting just outside someone's gate to their property so we headed across the road (thank you random neighbor we didn't know!). Nan even showed off her cartwheeling skills.

Our next location was Nan's grandmother's farm. All I can say, is HOLY JAM! It was absolutely gorgeous. The light was great, the setting was great and Nan and Jamie looked fabulous!

 Oh hey Nan, you're gorgeous.

Nan and Jamie, I can't wait for your wedding in September! Counting down the days!

Too funny.

When I take pictures of children under the age of 5, I never know what I'll get. Sometimes, I get those shots that aren't Father's Day gift worthy but I include them on the client's disc anyway because they are just too funny.

"don't worry mom. i'll shut him up for ya"
"HELP!!!!!!!"

Just a little too much sibling love.

Happy Sunday!

"crunchy" potato fries with "herbs de provence"

One thing my family loves to do during the summer, like many people, is cook out. My dad likes to think that he's Bobby Flay so he's always willing to fire up the grill.

Sunday night, dad made some burgers and I thought, What goes great with burgers? FRIES!. So I headed over to my favorite cooking blog and found this fabulous recipe for Oven Baked Fries.

I was pumped. These bad boys looked fabulous and I'd trust Joy with my life. I talked about her before here in a previous post. I sliced my potatoes, preheated my oven, added some evoo to my pan and my fries and but them in the oven. After ten minutes I took the pan out of the oven to stir the potatoes as the recipe suggested and they didn't move. Yeah, they were stuck to the pan. I was livid. I was trying to make fries not mashed potatoes!!!! Was Joy lying to me? I could have sworn she and I were friends. But, after 30 minutes, no crunch.

Just when I thought I was going to have to stop following Joy the Baker and her blog, I decided to turn on the broiler and BAM! Those fries were fabulous and crunchy. She added herbs de provence but I had none so I made my own after researching what it was. It was delicious. Cut the potatoes as thin as Joy says to! I think that's why my fries didn't turn out as I'd hoped.

DO YOUR RESEARCH.

If we are friends on Facebook, you know that I had a very stressful ordeal this weekend.

I had 4 photography engagements this weekend so I thought to myself, You should rent a Canon 7d and try it out! It was a fabulous idea. I went to the Borrow Lenses website and I ordered a Canon 7d, a 50mm lenses and a 70-200mm lenses. I put in my debit card information and hit complete. I was so freaking excited.

2 days later, the gear arrived and I literally almost peed in my pants! I opened the box, put the 50mm on the camera, adjusted settings and snapped a picture. AHHHHH!! It was so gorgeous! The color and the feel of it was fabulous. I went to grab one of my memory cards, opened the side of the camera and stopped. The camera had no spot for my small standard memory card.

My hands were sweating as I got on the computer to see what the heck was going on. As it turns out, I needed a CF card that I didn't have. A CF card that cost 60 freaking dollars that I also didn't have! A CF card that I needed to get TOMORROW!!!!!!!!!!!!!! hdufadfheofaudfafukedafuedahf (me freaking out) I sent a million messages to fellow photographer friends and cried myself to sleep that night.

Luckily, a neighbor and childhood friend of mine had a card for me to use. I was able to move a shoot to Monday and everything worked out.

What I'm trying to say is this: If you're going to buy a fancy new camera, do some research first. Look at the manual, look at reviews of it online. Don't just spend $2000 dollars on something you know nothing about because you may end up getting stressed out and having to spend another hundred dollars on additional stuff and it may not be worth it.

Happy Tuesday!

Welcome to the Garden.

When I was younger, my family used to have this amazing garden that we shared with our neighbors. We had corn, watermelon the whole sha-bang. Well we moved to a house that didn't have a spot for a garden which was really sad. But then a years later we moved back to our old house! A few days ago my mom and I had the ground tilled out and planted a garden. While it's not as big as it used to be but I am so excited!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

After Cynthia threw this dirt in the air, it landed on her head. Classic.
Very unattractive photo of me courtesy of mom.

With a little water and sunshine and a lot of love, I hope our cucumbers, peppers, tomatoes, jalepenos, beans, squash, basil, parsley and cilantro will grow cause I am hungry. And homemade salsa would be great right about now....

I hope your summer is off to a jolly good start!
