Something to Smile About

A few weeks ago, I had an English assignment in which I had to create a Photo Story that focused on disaster and society's social responsibility to help those in need. This concept got me to thinking about TOMS Shoes. For those of you who do not know, TOMS shoes is a for-profit organization that was founded in 2006 by this really good looking and amazing guy named Blake. For every pair of TOMS you buy, the company donates a new pair to a child in need. How cool is that? You get to look cute, and a small child get's a brand new pair of shoes!!! Part of my list of January Goals (see post here), was to plan a photoshoot just because I could, and so I did just that. I gathered 12 models, the most I've ever worked with, and shot some photos of them wearing their favorite pair of TOMS. It was such a treat to work with these girls and though it was a bit chilly, it was loads of fun. Thank you girls for bracing the cold!

I hope you enjoy these pictures and I encourage you to think about how cool it is that each one of these 12 girls represents a child somewhere that has a new pair of shoes on its feet. Now that, is something to smile about :)

Heather + Shane

My very first wedding. I still can not believe that it actually happened!!! I am so blessed to have been able to be the primary shooter, at a wedding, at the age of 16!!!! Heather and Shane were so much fun to work with. They understood my nervousness and accepted my awkward personality that can often show up at the most inconvenient times. I was lucky enough to have my sister Andrea act as my assistant.  She's been in several weddings so it was so helpful having her there as she has an eye for all things wedding related. A special thanks goes to Carole Miller for allowing me to borrow some much needed equipment. My hands we're sweating the entire time but enjoy the photos from my very, FIRST WEDDING EVER!!!!!!!

Their ceremony and reception all took place at Shenandoah Crossing. I highly suggest going there in the fall, it's absolutely beautiful!

I think he loves her :)

Congratulations Heather and Shane! Wishing you the best!
